Unlock more EU funding for 2028-2034: what can we do?

The counter-disinformation community is confronted with serious threats to its financial future. While it is clear that most philanthropic or platform funding is not available anymore, the EU has not yet provided a sustainable alternative to ensure protect democracy is protected.

In the coming months, the EU will decide on its Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), which sets budget and funding programmes for the seven years from 2028-2034. It is therefore a crucial time to make sure European civil society can be supported by EU funding, at a time when demands on resources are increasing and other revenue streams are drying up. This can be achieved only if the counter-disinformation community mobilises and coordinates its efforts.

In this webinar, our speaker Katrīna Luīze Ašmane will present AgoraEU – a new programme that could finance research and investigations to counter disinformation in Europe. She will also share proposals on how the current AgoraEU text could be improved and where efforts would be best focused to have an impact.

This webinar is intended exclusively for members of the EU DisinfoLab community, including civil society actors, academics, and researchers working on disinformation. Registrations will be reviewed and validated on the basis of the professional email address provided. EU DisinfoLab reserves the right to decline registrations that do not meet these criteria.
